Birthplace of Country Music Alliance
The Birthplace of Country Music Alliance (BCMA) consists of a board who decides how best to bring our country music heritage to Bristol. They meet as a group usually once a month, but often stay in touch via email. Sending important documents as attachments caused problems — sometimes they wouldn't make it to recipients or the recipient didn't have a reliable way to open the document. Also, there was really no way to secure the messages.That's where Google Docs comes in. BCMA now uses web-based Google Docs to store all important documents such as meeting minutes, financial data, strategic plans, committee reports, and more. Each board member has their own user account and must log in to view documents. Certain members are given "collaboration" privileges so that they may work together on the same document. All changes are tracked and detailed statistics are made available to the program director, Bill Hartley, through Google Analytics.
Analysis and implementation was fast and training straightforward. Members easily understand the new system and have a much more reliable and secure way to communicate about BCMA.
